Get Data
The BAID effort includes an Internet Map Server
(IMS). BAID-IMS is a geobrowser portal for the
Barrow area. Many of the data layers that can be
browsed through BAID-IMS are available for download through the
Alaska Geospatial Data
Clearinghouse at USGS, Alaska State Geo-Spatial
Data Clearinghouse, the National Snow and Ice Data Center
(NSIDC) and Earth Observing Lab (EOL) at the
National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR).
Some layers are proprietary and are only available
to BAID through special agreement with the North Slope
Borough and Alaska Satellite
Facility.
BAID research site information is available via Open Geospatial Consortium WMS / WFS web services and REST.
BAID-IMS includes FGDC metadata records when available through data providers. These can be accessed via the layer names on the table of contents. For example, if you click on the “All Research Sites” layer name, the metadata record will pop up in a new browser window. Follow the online linkage information for details on downloading or accessing an Open Geospatial Consortium service.

Data sets unique to BAID are available via Barrow Area Information Database (BAID) Geospatial Data Sets at the Earth Observing Lab at: http://data.eol.ucar.edu/codiac/dss/id=106.ARCSS400
Additional geospatial data layers funded by the National Science Foundation are available for download from NSF data centers listed below:
